Actually, the best way to learn about future goals is by asking questions. He is 13, so he has no clue about college other than it is arguably after high school with certain programs that allow students to take college courses while in high school. I am sure they have more types of programs, but he asked a particular question which means he is thinking about his future. That is a good thing and maybe you should start thinking in those terms yourself. It's never too early.

Thi is my own little opinion that in the fuuutuure (cue spooky music): computer programming will be part of basic education / literacy (like algebra, essay writing, geography). And computer literacy will be taught in primary school, starting at age 6. Computers are everywhere and in everything these days. Almost everything you do is aided by a computer, so knowing how to manipulate them will eventually become mandatory and essential.

Jesus Christ, can everyone stop telling us your age in the comments? Just because you can watch a free lecture on YouTube does not make you special.

In case you guys are wondering, the lecture itself begins at around 16:00 . Before that the professors give you a preamble and explain how the course works, how it's structured, tests and so on.
