Well the reason why Ericsson decided to go for a new performance management system was they are always increasing in complexity in the radio access networks . There were more sales per network and were more counters per sale. The customers wanted to keep the data for longer time and they also needed to have a faster response on retrieving data. And we had as well as everyone else has a relational database manager and we were sort of keeping on improving that and it kept the customers happy for a while but we eventually realized that we needed to do some drastic changes to get the magnitude of improvement that we saw was needed. Well when we started discussing with Sybase , Sybase recommended to us in 2005 that we should go for Sybase IQ and then we did and a less than a week of work we saw more than a 50 time improvement in the work, and of course we started working much closer with Sybase to get this product faster to the market and we saw a very good cooperation between Ericsson and Sybase on this product and we call it ENIQ, Ericsson Network IQ so it's sort of a little bit of a twist on the Sybase IQ, so the ENIQ product is a very powerful product that we have together with Sybase and work together. Well now the ENIQ product is now the leading product on the market and we brought it after this work with Sybase in 2005, we brought it to the market in towards the end of 2006 and we now have it in networks with more than three hundred and fifty operators around the world which has given us a clear number one position based on the Annex, so it has been a clear success. The reason why it's so successful is that I think is, it's very easy to install. It's easy to operate. It has a very good performance and also a very small footprint, so all these are very important characteristics when it comes when the customer wants to present something. So easy to install, easy to operate, good performance and small footprint, what else can you ask for?
But we at Ericsson will not stop at ENIQ and what we are doing on Sybase IQ. We are seeing an increasing interest from the operator to understand of not only what's going on in the network but what's also going on with the subscribers and what services that they are using. They're using Sybase Event and since we need even more data to be processed when you go to look at how people are using and what they are doing in the network and not only how the network is performing and we see that from many of our customers. They want to know the whole three hundred and sixty degree, what's going on and that data is to be found in the network data, in the sort of services data but also in the billing and charging systems data and by having the access to all of this all of this we can give a better sort of status of the whole operations to the operators. Going into the future now with the old applications up in the cloud -- and you want to reach them from your devices -- we have coined this expression of a smart pipe -- where you have to know exactly what's actually going on in my network and there's even more demands going to come from this. And recently we are in a very good position to help the operators with that, but we always look for good partners to work with, we will not do everything ourselves. And now with Sybase & SAP being together -- we have through SAP and the BusinessObjects also -- that we see that is a very powerful tool to use in this context. So we are looking for new opportunities in the area of all analytics and data. Be that user data, network data, billing data -- whatever it is -- whatever we can get to get the operators to better understand what's going on in their network. What kind of data is flowing through the data pipes -- and in doing that we will need partners like SAP / Sybase.
