The D.B. General the largest derrick barge on the West Coast hoisted the nearly 1 million-pound section onto a barge. Due to its age and size, the old truss cannot be reused and will be salvaged by contractor Kiewit-General and recycled.

  • Wow that's amazing. I love derrick barges, they are capable of picking up unbelievable huge stuff(goes with out saying). I remember I was on one and they were trying to pick up a collapsed rig, the whole barge had like a 9 degree list.

  • That's really fun to watch! What a shame the truss can't be reused for something else. At least it's getting recycled.
