@tolanstout but there is also a down side to it. in the analog days, if you sped stuff up or slowed it down. It also changed the pitch and the speed of what your trying to record. So its best only used when you plan everything else ahead after it. In the digital world you can speed and slow stuff down and it wont change the pitch of your signal.

@tolanstout Okay basically there is probably a nob or something that controls how fast the tape is played, at play back. It's probably located somewhere on the actual 8 track machine, but i don't know exactly so I could be wrong. So when they hit play, they turn the nob left or right, Left being slower and right being faster. Thus giving John the youthful sound to his voice. Even the instruments sound "brighter" when played faster.

@Zargon314. Indeed. And also with 'She's Leaving Home' (mono), "When I'm 64," and several others.

You need to explain this better.

@Killinfloor Correct, they did the same thing with "Across the Universe"

Oxente...rsrsrs...Uma Bita no meio dos Bitus?
Como pode isso...kkkk...
@iSteeeve This isn't the chipmunk version. What you hear is actually the boys running the tape machine at a faster speed so it has that differen't timbre to johns voice. It almost makes him sound youthful. God you got to love the days of Analogue!
