  • Was it too confined to be able to nose through ETL?

    Wouldn't that help the situation?

  • @motokid032 What's an ETL?

ETL, or "Effective Translational Lift", is an aerodynamic principle which usually happens at a forward speed of around 16-24 kts and increases lift by having the added "clean" air move over the rotor disk..It usually calls for an input of forward cyclic to compensate for the climbing tendency.

If you're aircraft is a tad heavy you want to use ETL to your advantage.

  • Climb baby climb!...OGE is a bitch.

  • I'd say yes to "Settling with Power" but the area of his water is so confided and his only choice to VRS.

  • VRS stands for Vortex Ring State. Another name for it is Settling with Power.

  • 212..Sexy machine.

  • Very nice. Love that sound!!!! I was wondering by descending vertical like that isn't this guy flirting with VRS? I'm not a pilot.

  • agree.

  • All helicopter pilots are good pilots.
