ETL, or "Effective Translational Lift", is an aerodynamic principle which usually happens at a forward speed of around 16-24 kts and increases lift by having the added "clean" air move over the rotor disk..It usually calls for an input of forward cyclic to compensate for the climbing tendency.
If you're aircraft is a tad heavy you want to use ETL to your advantage.

I'd say yes to "Settling with Power" but the area of his water is so confided and his only choice to VRS.
