First gay protest in Beirut

In opposition to the violence in the Lebanese society targeting the minorities as of homosexuals, women, children, domestic and foreign workers and others, Helem in collaboration with Human Rights organizations active in the Lebanese civil society invites to a sit-in in Sodeco, Beirut. The sit-in is on the 22nd of February 2009 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm."

مثليين ومثليات, نساء, أطفال, والعمّال والعاملات الأجانب وغيرهم, تدعو جمعيّة
حلم بالتعاون مع جمعيات المجتمع المدني اللّبناني الناشطة في مجال حقوق الإنسان
لتجمّع سلمي وإضاءة شموع, مساء الأحد الواقع في 22 شباط 2009 في تمام الساعة
الخامسة إلى السادسة بعد الظهر في منطقة السوديكو - بيروت.

@xXvolhvXx I am just saying that if [his] concern is STDs, then there is a wider range of topics [he] should be discussing. Focusing on homosexuality from the STD angle shows just how biased [he] was.

@Alaaeddinebarakat True. They make the gay community suffer because THEY cannot accept who they are. It is the "If I can't be gay then nobody can" type of thinking.

@7ees If you bring up STDs, and you probably will as you seem to think homosexuality is just about sex, I would suggest you spend your energy on discussing prostitution and unsafe sex. Heterosexual sex is just as prone to unsafe practices as homosexual sex.

I am gay and yet you seem to be way more personal than I am. Would you like to discuss that in private?

@7ees It always comes back to sex. Why does it bother you so much when two adults are having consensual sex?

Does it matter if the molester in your example was born this way, or was under social pressures, or a combination of those? His behavior was wrong regardless of its origin. Now, is homosexuality wrong? I don't think it is. I am not hurting anyone as I act on my feelings.
