  • I had this, awesome game, the colours were just mind blowing for Spectrum, really showed what the machine was capable of in the right hands!

  • @RibNSpicY I didn't get to play it till emulation so I missd out on what it would have been like back in the day. It's a good job Domark had nothing to do with the game.

  • Amazing to see this after so long - I remember not sleeping for weeks on the QA for this game... We downloaded the arcade machine graphics - did a mono convert and then Spock, the artist spent weeks changing everything and working with the attribute based colouring.

Probably the best thing I ever wrote (the other stuff was frequently quite bad :)

  • @miket101gmail Interesting info on the creation of the game. Spock liked his colours for sure. Less is more, as they say. As long as he's not a painter and decorator on the side. Nevertheless, a step forward showing what the speccy could do.

  • Ah...How I wasted my life. I loved this game so much, I used to draw the Ninja from the box art in all my school books.

Looking at it now I forget how limited the moves where. But neverless, an Ocean game with un-rivaled programming and music. Thanks again fella, much appreciated

  • Drawing on the school books, lol! That takes me back! Not to when this came out obviously, I was well passed school daze by that time! Not exactly the same variety of moves as Exploding Fist, but probably something your art teacher would critisize - colour-wise!!!

    You're welcome mate!

  • I loved this. Just a shame it came so late in the day for the Speccy. It really showed off what the device was capable of with a bit of love on the part of the developers. I would have loved to see more games that looked this good. I'm guessing everything moves in 8x8s to keep control of the colours, which would explain why the player's movement around the screen is a little fast and overall the game doesn't play as well as Target Renegade. Is this the case?

  • I think this was the last game I purchased for my Speccy and remember being underwhelmed by it. I prefered Target Renegade with its largely monochrome graphics, better animated sprites, more moves, 2 player option etc....which came out 2 years earlier.

  • The best looking Spectrum game... ever! It lacked a little in the moves department, but that was a fault of the original game, not this superb port. I whittled away many hours with this version of Shadow Warriors. It was a big influence for my boyhood dream of growing up to be a games artist... Which as it happened, payed off. Thanks guys. :)
