The great Swiss baritone, Charles Panzéra, sings Fauré's wonderful song cycle "L'horizon chimérique" -- Gabriel Faure's last vocal work -- a cycle of four songs, which Fauré dedicated to Panzéra and no one ever sang them quite like he did! His wife, Magdeleine Panzéra-Baillot, is the pianist. Recorded November, 1936.

Panzéra's wife, Magdeleine Panzéra-Baillot, is the pianist.

  • #3 is too fast, but otherwise the definitive performance. Remarkably similar to Souzay's.

  • Marvelous.

  • Veramente un espressività sublime. Ottimo interprete di Faurè. Raffinato ma non lezioso.

  • Thank you for these. I'm singing this cycle this fall. What beautiful music!

  • This has been up for almost a year, and no one has yet commented.

These are marvellous, definitive performances: Thank you!
