@Mryouareretarded Bullshit alarm! Unix came before Windows, GNU/Linux was based upon Unix. Without Unix there would be no Ubuntu, so you sir are wrong if you think without microsoft there would be no Ubuntu.

@blogJM said "Linux - for people who have knowledge on programming or willing to learn."
What did you expect? Using a computer require skills. Now, if you only care about using application of a computer(eg: Application are tools written by computer user) that a other story. There is plenty of idiot proof desktop environment for Linux that let you mindlessly send mail, and masturbate to Internet pornography. Ubuntu is a good example, try it out. No skills are required.

What matter is what you can do once it has booted. There is not much you can do with this Micro-Soft system out of the box. But i am not a fair judge, to be honest i never liked the Micro-Soft system. This DOS thing was such a failure. That shit wouldn't do anything right. I doubt 30 years is enough for Micro-Soft to fix their shitty OS.

Test is biased and therefore obsolete.
Microsoft Windows Vista was available for retail on 2007-1-30, with the RTM being released 2006-10-8.
Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex - R: 2008-10-30) is not from the same general release date as Vista.
I would have suggested Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy Eft - R: 2006-10-26) to compare to if it was the RTM, or Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn - R: 2007-04-19) for the retail version of vista.
We also have no proof that you haven't updated one, and left the other outdated.

With both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10 out now, the test is obviously outdated.
As for the rest of your comment, both systems had all the available patches installed and identical hardware was used. I'd hardly call that biased.

@imp0cat mate ive got this laptop with 1.4ghz and 2gb of ram, and currently is on vista but thinking of clean instaling it to win 7 would i have any problems with win 7 or will it be better many thanks!

@Burgattti I haven't actually bothered to upgrade to Windows 7 yet, so I can't really tell. I think Windows 7 should be faster than Vista, (assuming you can find all the drivers).
