i wonder where he was too, but if he was with solid snake he would have died in a few minutes because of foxdie, so it was necessary for him to stay away from solid in order to live until the right time. also showing himself to the world would cause a new objective besides the current mission, to defeat big boss again.

@Historianization What? dude, Big Boss founded Zanzibar Land and was Dave's nemesis. It was only till the end, when David found out that Big Boss was just a pawn. Besides, BB's too old to kick ass.

Snake is also suffering from a degenerative disease, and is a chain smoker. Not to mention snake has been running all over the world, blowin' shit up, takin' a beating, all in his old age. Liquid has been chillin' out relaxin' and coolin' shootin' some bball upside the school while his couple of guys, up to no good, started makin' trouble in the neighborhood.
Summary after the Bel-Air tangent - Liquid has been doing nothing but watching other people work, thus his rested body > snake's old body

either you never played MGS4 or you really have a faint memory, but Liquid kicks Solid's ass near the end of Act 3 by using Solids very own weapons , Liquid even says
"Nice try, but when it comes to CQC, i've got the upper-hand."
