Spannerman - The Amstrad CPC years.

This is "Spannerman" for the Amstrad CPC released in 1984 by Amsoft and developed by Gem Software.
After a strong quake the nuclear plant has sustained great damage.
Water leaks are reported everywhere and if they are not stopped a nuclear meltdown is certain.
Your task is to reduce the water leaks by using your spanner on the joints of the water pipes.
It's not an easy task as many leaks are appearing at the same time and in different joints.
Roof debris are also falling very often that can kill you instantly.
If you manage to avoid the debris you must be very careful with the huge rats. A single bite and you are history.
Fortunately there are two things that can protect you from rats, your steel boots and the water level. Both can kill the rats although if you try to kick them is a bit tricky.
Water leaks can occur even under the water level where you must try to stop them depending on your air supply.
Spannerman is a little game of arcade action.
No fancy graphics and sound but it can still be very addictive.

A tip: try tightening bolts that are not leaking.

NTW, has anyone managed to get to the next level? A friend of mine says it is possible.

@dartsma464 Bolts must not be overtighten because next time they start leaking it becomes harder to make them stop.

I'm not sure if there is next level. I never managed to get there.

I would be very interested to see someone get there.

@alex76gr Yea I too was wondering if anyone ever completed a screen and if it was possible!! I would like to see a video of that ;)

I really liked this game as a kid, one of the better Amsoft releases but very frustrating ... especially when the water levels at the top and two valves decided to spring a leak on the bottom row!!

Go Spannerman GO! ;D And look at those Rats .. as big as dogs. Still great gameplay and as one of the first amstrad games ever you really cant blame em for being a bit simplistic. Then again just because a game is simple dont mean that it is bad, and this one is quite playable indeed.
