How can the islands in the South China Sea belong to China when Vietnamese troops are on these islands? Don't tell me that Viet troops kicked China's ass to get these islands decades ago like this biased reporter from CCTV (China's state-run media) said. Starting in 1949 when Mao won, China burned old books and old maps because they had no mention of the islands in South China Sea. China started printing new books, conjuring up false evidence in order to assert its claims. China = pirate.
P4:
...Islands (sure), but at that time, Europeans called both Paracel & Spratly as Paracel Islands. They noted Paracel as a part of Kingdom of Cochinchina (Nguyen lords) and noted the east sea of VN as "Cochinchina Sea".
In the XIX century, due to unknown reasons ("Cochinchina" is a long name?), Westerners left out the most important word "Cochin" and called this sea "China Sea". This misnomer continued to be used widely until the official name "South China Sea" appeared.
Just read and think.

...of Vietnam as "Cauchichina" which means "Cauchi near China".
In the XVI century, Vietnam was under the rule of Le Dynasty, but actually the north of VN was controlled by Trinh lords & the southern part controlled by Nguyen lords. Nguyen conquered Champa and gained land to Vietnam. The European trade with this part of Vietnam "Cochinchina" (changed from "Cauchinchina). Nguyen lords were recognized as kings of Cochinchina, not Le Dynasty. In the east sea of VN, there are Paracel & Spratly..
