Flygbussarna (Swedish Airport Coaches), "50 cars or 1 bus"

Every day thousands of cars are driven to and from Swedish airports. Every car holds only 1,2 persons on average which is to be compared with the Airport Coach that takes over 50. Needless to say, this makes no sense whatsoever from an environmental standpoint. To highlight this, an enormous bus was built out of 50 cars on the side of the highway to the airport. On the website, a live camera not only shows the installation 24/7 but also analyses the image and tracks each and every car going by. This data is then being used to highlight just how much emission we could save just by going by bus instead.

Um, yes I do. I understand the point of the installation but not your reasoning. I'm interested in knowing if the installation actually increased the number of bus passengers. Therefore the ticket sales figures would be of interest, from before and after the activity.

A very creative advertisement, as it delivers a strong message. However, the ad does nothing to decrease the perception that the private transportation is more convenience. Anyways,　excellent concept.

Here are some information provided.

1) A car carries on average 1.2 people.

2) A coach can carry 50 people.

3) A coach burns about 4 times the amount of cars.

Thus by carrying 5 people the coach can replace 4 cars in the amount of pollution burnt. Also, with the coach full the total amount of pollution will be about 10 times less that the equivalent number of cars.

Why? They are advertising bus rides. They do that to increase bus passenger numbers. The numbers today are therefore Not Relevant. Put differently, they are not saying: "Hey here's how great buses are compared to cars", but rather: "Hey, it would be great if you took the bus too!". Get it?
