  • What does Booker say at 5:13?

  • I just saw your question - he says "that's our show, thanks for coming" or something to that effect. -Joan

  • You're basically just proving my point: no heart or soul. Stick with your Hannah Montana, I'll stick with Booker T and all the other fabulous blues musicians out there.

  • Ahhh, music when it was still created by human beings, before the synthesized, pre-programmed disco-pop machines took over.

  • People, you've just witnessed a masters course in soul!!! Time is tight, indeed.

  • Donald duck dunn!!!!

  • What a glorious performance. I don't care about the crappy technical quality, had I been there in person I would've been weeping tears of joy anyway.

  • R&B at its best there is nothing like it, now everything's just Rap, Pop, Rock with no soul or tear your hair out Metal. I bet 95% of my age group because I'm 15 years old, wouldn't even have the patience to watch this video. They don't even listen to this music in general. Stax Records produced real music. I hate the fact that Atlantic rode Stax's coat tails, but Atlantic is a good label regardless. These guys are the reason Stax still lives today. They personify R&B and I'm grateful for that.

  • BT all time best group

  • The Beatles and Elvis were white acts that made the rest of the non-black community stand up and listen. However, for myself, it would be many years later that I discovered the roots of the music that The Beatles sang when they released You Can't Do That, and Chains (for example). Better late than never I say. Booker T. and the MG's were among my very first influences through their affiliation with Stax.

  • @CommBreakDown

Time is Tight is a slowed down version. The Blues Bros Can't turn you lose combines the two.

  • Just great, still sends shivers through me listening to this with such happy memories just flooding back to me 

  • thought it was time is tight..

  • Growing up in Liverpool we were influenced by black US music - the Liverpool Motown Sound. Then this came and black USA had another dimension - STAX. Who were they - and they were not all black. This was so simple and effective. The MGs were a sessions band for STAX. This is slower version of I can't turn you loose.
