I started mine by hand, and ended up renting a backhoe, when I got down four feet, by twenty, and forty feet long. And, then I still had to shape by shovel. Wish I had a bobcat then... LOL! The pool turned out super, and was built in the 80's with poured concrete, and cinder blocks for the sides. No problems, all these years with it either. I tiled the inside with portland cement, and Italian Quarry tile...
