Something about that voice makes it okay for a man to cry. Something about that voice evokes a sense of loss and failure, but also optimism of overcoming, but not before hitting rock bottom, of course.
The voice of Lanegan is the voice of a survivor. The voice that has experienced a thousand pains. A voice that wants to transcend despite a multitude of forces designed and committed to keep one down.
It strikes a chord in me, and if it doesn't move you, then you are without a soul.

ok..this is what I think of when I think of The Screaming Trees. But I'm not expert on them at all...I will consult the higher ups. lol I "found," Mark Lanegan in QOTSA..and then a world of his music was opened to me.

God, I love Mark Lanegan's voice: so deep, raspy, grungy, and lovely; it's almost sexy <3

Rock is dead, unfortunately. Rarely we'll see some good songs come out, but overall it's not looking good.
That's why you'll hear mostly older songs on the radio. This one still plays on the radio pretty regular.
Don't knock Pearl Jam though. They had some very good songs.
