I first heard this song on an episode of Miami Vice, "Out Where the Buses Don't Run" toward the end of the surprising conclusion. Powerful music...love it!!

@cyberqat That's a weak way of looking at it. Yes, politicians make wars but soldiers can say NO, WE'RE HUMANS NOT MACHINES, NOT MURDERERS.

Wow the art in this video is awesome.

The first time I heard this song was on an episode of Miami Vice in the mid '80s. IMHO the very best song Dire Straits ever did.

@hammerpooper Yes.
Soldiers don't make war.
Politicians make wars. Soldiers just have the very nasty job of doing the dirty work.
Change the politics and maybe someday we wont need soldiers. Til then, my prayers go with them all, on both sides of every conflict.

@cyberqat As a former Marine Sergeant, and a Vietnam veteran, I assure you we absolutely could have won that war. If we didn't intend to win, then why send our troops to fight and die. Fighting for peace is like Fucking for Virginity! Let soldiers in the field determine what requirements they have, not the idiot politicians. The US is invasive in every country in the world. If we weren't invited in, we should mind our own business and quit throwing money at the wrong people.
