  • My Father was born in Africville in 1920, he left in 1932. He died in Buffalo in 1993. I promised him I would go there and meet my relitives. When he herd it was all gone, he was heart broken. I am 55 years old, and I will take my family to the reunion and keep that promise.

Oh, and sackville 10, Spoken like a true Red Neck..Bull Conner would blush at your ignorence. KEEP UP THE TRAILOR PARK TALK...It becomes you.

  • If Black people were given opportunities back in the day,you wouldnt have a lot of black poverty in Nova Scotia or in the U.S. Denying blacks oppurtunities put Black's behind and originally forced them to become dependent on welfare. Even though black folks have come a long way, black's are still denied jobs in the U.S. Denied jobs and systemmatic racism leads to poverty.

  • The oppressors won't win if we educate and come as one

  • mandawah, you are so right about sackville 10. i am so glad that we have come along way thus far, and still a long way to go, but God willing we'll walk togethger someday and watch each others backs from those kind of people. i ust to play music at the old el strato and never in 5 years had one problem, in fact i always felt very safe in there. God bless you and your people, and God bless you from me and my family. Ron

  • to know more truths about the so called blacks, see site Hebrewisraelitesdotorg

  • Very good look,I like the movement. Hey my family's from Dartmouth we live in Toronto. Keep up the good work people need to know more history about who we are as people and where we came from. Beals Boy Gang

  • @MANDAWAH I don't understand... Many racial minorities were "denied jobs", and opportunities but that didn't stop them... For example the Chinese and Japanese. How come even though they were put under the same circumstances they eventually out performed Europeans? Also, Aboriginals are given benefits in excessive quantity and yet so many still do worse. Perhaps there's another side to the story than just white suppression?

  • @KRONICHxTAYLORGANG The natives were mistreated more then the blacks were in canada we had the underground railroad those people living in africville were actually americans technically living on stolen land from the natives. Ironic eh.

  • @jhborden mostly because they promised equality and justice in a more governed time, yet still blaintintly lied and prosecuted innocent minorities for no reasons and did not treat them equal. Im not blaming todays white people at all I like to treat everyone fairly but you cant compare a time period so out dated to a time like in this video in a country where democracy and equality is promised, it's just so uneven.

  • Having grown up in North End Halifax I remember Africville well. I was young naieve and uneducated so di not think much of it other than it was there. How attitudes have changed. There actually was a keen religious and family sense of community despite the conditions. Being isolated can often lead to this just as in the outports of Nefoundland. What an injustice was done to that community when their lands were expropriated to build the on ramps to the new bridge.

  • My grandmother NEVER shared this story we this. I guess when she came to the States, she left this story behind :~(

  • I typed in black Canadians out of curiosity a few minutes ago. Now I feel depressed. I had no idea this had happened. White Canada did a good job of making black Canadians invisible.
