Mirio Cosottini (trumpet), Alessio Pisani (Bassoon), Tonino Piano (piano), perform work based on original graphic scores.
EASilence is a variable ensemble with, at its core, Mirio Cosottini (trumpet) and Alessio Pisani (Bassoon), two composers and improvisors from Tuscany and founders of GRIM, an association for musical research and improvisation. GRIM is intended to promote the culture of music with special consideration to research in the field of improvisation. This is done through an effort that is both theoretical (written research) and practical (performance and workshops).
Although this is the first time EASilence adopts a trio format with Tonino Miano (piano), the three have been collaborating for many years. In 2007 Cosottini and Miano released "The Curvature of Pace" (Grimedia/Impressus), and in 2009, this time in quartet (Cosottini-Melani-Miano-Pisani) they released "Cardinal" (Grimedia/Impressus), a CD that has received critical acclaim and has appeared in two European Top Ten lists, as well as being included in the list of most notable CDs of the decade by AllAboutJazz/Italia. EASilence uses graphic scores, to vehicle the sound in suggested directions, that are open to improvisation, and adopts a language that is often multi-stylistic in nature.
