Good point, but getting an angle in this way means that you move simontanously towards the assailant at the moment he strikes, which (as action beats reaction) won´t happen if you watch youtubevideos about people who get suckerpunched.
Of course if you know he´s gonna suckerpunch a preemptive strike would be an option... but thats not the point, i guess. :-)
