  • yes from London.....although Smales Pace was John!

  • @MsPlanet3 Are you a "John and Jim Smale" from the London area. If so, I'll bet we met many times at Smale's Pace. Is this important? Prolly not, but it keeps some of us in communication regarding an important socio-business event in London, Ont., and feels cool just to remember. If not - sorry you missed it.

  • I've tried to find this recording for years; I remember seeing David Wiffen sing it so many times around Ottawa in the mid-70's. Everyone knew all the words and sang with him. It's wonderful to see him play it again after so long.

  • David always has been and always will be a maestro...Joanne Smale

  • ...a lot of pain, but what a great song.

  • yep..miss Le Hibou and the old days in Ottawa.....miss my hometown

  • I have this LP along, with Coast to Coast Fever and have played these songs myself for years. I saw David in London at the Change of Pace way back. One of my heroes. So good to see these videos posted. This is a gorgeous performance with a beautiful arrangement. Thank you.

  • Love this. Brings tears to my eyes for all the times we saw David play at The Bunkhouse at Seymour & Davie in Vancouver. My family used to play there, and a few years later in my life I was with a band that opened for "Three's A Crowd" at a concert at SFU. He and Mike Dorsey both had that smooth-as-hot-buttered-rum bass-baritone - but David could write. Lord, but I do miss those days. I'm still singing - and I heard he's living in Ottawa, now. Wish him the best - "wherever he is."

  • Thanks so much for posting this. Absolute best version (as it should be since he wrote it). Love the piano and bass.

  • What a great voice. I love this video. Thanks.
