This is caused by incorrectly strapping down the vespa in the back of a truck. DO NOT USE "canyon dancer" handlebar straps. They might be fine for modern scooters or motorcycles, but not on a vintage Vespa or Lambretta.

The best way to tie down the front of the scooter is to wrap a towel around the top of the fork column underneath the headset, and then wrap your rope or strap around that a few times. The towel is to protect your paint from the rope or strap.

**ALSO** do NOT strap your scooter down with the centerstand down. This will bend your floorboards.
