William Gibson's portrayal of Helen Keller's transformation from "little more than a beast" to intelligent child is a staple of theatres nationwide. FHU's 2006 production featured both speaking and signing actors appearing simultaneously on Loyd stage. Several characters had speaking actors as well as signing counterparts on stage, while other actors would speak as well as sign, depending on the role being played and that character's comfort with the speaking and signing worlds. In this, the final scene of the play, Helen's older brother Jamie finally confronts his father and Helen makes a life-changing discovery. Cliff Thompson directed this lovely production. Featured actors Van Richardson ('09) as Speaking Jamie and Tiffany Christensen ('07) and Kaitlin Pate ('08) as Annie Sullivan. Anna Brooks plays Helen.
