Keith Olbermann: Special Comment on Rice's Hitler Quote

Keith Olbermann lets Condoleezza Rice have it for suggesting that "if Congress were now to revise the Iraq authorization, it would be like saying that after Adolf Hitler was overthrown, we needed to change then, the resolution that allowed the United States to do that, so that we could deal with creating a stable environment in Europe after he was overthrown."

It's not like this is the first time the Bush administration has used a historical analogy poorly; it's just that most journalists let it slide.

People should piss Keith off more frequently, it brings out best (worst?) in him...

I normally agree with Keith but why is he soooooo worked up here? I mean I think Saddam Hussein is a better Hitler comparison than Bill O'Reilly. I mean Bill is a jerk but he never killed anyone, where as Hussein gassed and tortured his own people.

He's worked up because comparing Hussein to Hitler is yet another fearmongering tactic of the administration. Yeah, Hussein was worse than O'Reilly, but let's get a few things straight. Keith *jokingly* made a Sieg Heil salute wearing an O'Reilly because Bill *seriously* twisted history to make Allied troops the perpetrators of the atrocities at Malmedy.

At any rate, Hussein killed and tortured people looking to overthrow him, which is to be expected from a dictator.

So it's not ok for the Bush administration to say that Saddam is like Hitler because Hitler killed 6million+ while Saddam killed a few hundred thousand of his own people...but it's OK for HIM to say that the Iraq War (started under a GOP president) is worse than the Vietnam War (started under a dem president)...even though Vietnam had 67K american deaths and 5million+ Vietnam deaths, while Iraq had 4000 some american deaths to a little over 100,000 Iraq deaths.

@JFLD8 Oh, Bill O'Reilly (along with most democrats) supported the attack on Iraq, which killed thousands of Iraqi soldiers in 2003. Those soldiers had families. Many of them had children too. The perpetrators (both Republican & Democrat) should be tried for the greatest war crime of all: starting a war of aggression that killed many, destroyed a country, and made refugees of millions of people.

hitler did to the west, what the west did to the 3rd world. he gave us a taste of our own medicine. how is he better or worse than any of our leaders in the past or present. besides the holocaust is debatable due to eveidence that there was never 6 million killed, that figure was revised to around 1 to 1 1/2 million in 1989. thats a crime for sure, but so is the ashkanazi jews profeting from the 'holocaust business'.

I really hate how Adolf Hitler is always used with evil. Anti-Semitism i mean seriously Jews are not even that important as there not even a race. America is responsible for more deaths than anybody.

analogies are subjective, listing a number of differences or similarities is not really an argument.

apparently keith thinks that there are not enough similarities between hitler and sadam, but he is chery picking just as much.
