Just work on the behavior more. After walking into him without the treat, add a cue so say "back up" and walk into him so he backs up. Try saying back up without walking into him and if he does yay if he doesn't try walking into him again :)

How do I get my dog to back up from me when the dog is facing me and I am standing still...so they back up just on cue and I am still...
-
I taught my lab this cue successfully, but since the last few days I've noticed that he backs up on cue and then starts walking forward without my cue. He has just assumed that once he does what I ask, he can right away do what he wants. How do I break that? I noticed how Splash waits for what you say after backing up at 1:56. How do I get my Buddy to do that? Please HELP!

I like your videos. I think they are some of the best ones on youtube, for dog training. You speak clearly, you demonstrate everything clearly, and you show the right way to train the dog. Thanks.

@rizkhandagr8: repeitiously say the verbal cue while doing the hand motion so the dog will get used to hearing the same exact thing every time. ..yes it takes time, patience, and being able to take a step back or two.

I will teach my dog and see how it goes.
I am having trouble with making the dog do circle on my tuen command. When I have treat she does fine, even without treat she does pretty good; but I have to do the hand circle motion and she follows my Hand to circle. If I just say TURN she doesn't turn.
I taught her jump, touch, down, sit commands but turn command is problem.
I also have problem with COME command. Any tips will be appreciated.
Thanks

So helpful!
Do i have to have a "clicker" or cant i just clap my hands or some other clicking noise?
Civicblabla 1 year ago
@Civicblabla no you don't, you can use a world like "yes' but a sound that always sounds the same is best. Some people make a clicking noise with their mouth. I clap for my dogs some times (like in the middle of a routine) however at other times it doesnt work as well, as you might need your hand to hold a lure etc... like in this video. You can use a ball point pen if it has a loud enough click to it.

CORRECTION:
There is NO word "forwards" in English - neither spoken nor written. There is only "forward." (Au contraire, "backwards" IS an optional term for "backward.")

@rwburnell I actually struggle with language. So you will find lots of "misspellings" in my writing and videos. I have had trouble hearing and pronouncing words since I was a child. I still confuse curb, with "curve",,, I am dyslexic as well. I will focus on making videos and enjoy the process rather than getting depressed looking for errors in my speech patterns. I have seen the word "forwards" in written English, but I do believe you are right... that I am misusing "proper" English

@rwburnell However I don't really mind that I do not speak properly, as neither did Shakespeare- he used the word "forwards" :)
SONNET 60
Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,
So do our minutes hasten to their end;
Each changing place with that which goes before,
In sequent toil all forwards do contend.
