FARSIDE ERUPTION: Departing sunspot AR1384, currently located just behind the sun's western limb, erupted today around 14:45 UT. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory photographed the debris flying over the edge of the solar disk: The eruption appears to be connected to magnetic filaments snaking over the horizon to the Earthside of the sun. Will this event affect our planet? Probably not. It is located too far from disk center. Stay tuned, however, to see what kind of CME the blast produced.

i wonder why 'experts' say that things that happen on Sun that are NOT 'disk centered' do not affect Earth ... who can suppose such a thing ??? Great video updates skyywatcher 88 thank you - with love ♥

@5dnibiru I do not hope for that and pray that does not happen as many, including myself, are not ready for that. Think of all the people who are reliant upon home medical devices for their version of normalcy...that's just one example. My mother who is in a nursing home would most def be negatively affected.

so many CMEs these past few months. but i wanna see one wipe out the power grid. when do you think that a big one, thats facing earth, will hit a cause a big problem?
