  • Response to the comment below: That particular statement on Unsolved Mysteries was incorrect. Kait rented her apartment with money she earned as clothing manager at Pier One Imports. Later, when Dung staged his wreck in California, he was paid with a check that was run through Kait's checking account, but that money was Dung's.

  • Those shows concentrate on the cases they think will be of most interest to viewers. Popular, out-going honor students aren't SUPPOSED to get killed, so their murders shock the community, whereas the violent deaths of high school dropouts living in drug infested areas are accepted as an every day occurence. It's unfair, yet true.

  • @kaitarquette Sadly, I'm afraid what you say is all too true.

  • Is this girls mom an author for books?

  • @adape0884frank

Yes, the girl's mom is author Lois Duncan.

  • she got involved with the wrong boyfriend and/or

the group he was associated with,

  • @Filomenon73 There's no doubt about that. The question is, which of the many criminal activities she found out about got her killed? And why did the police see fit to cover up the murder and refuse to consider the Vietnamese criminal group suspects?

  • i think her mom is right, it wasn't random. she was shot twice in the head, which hints that someone was really trying to kill her. if it was a random shooting, the most likely wouldn't have fired twice.

oh, and i love lois duncan! i've read like 5 of her books.

  • Another thing, most police and the C.I.S. don't understand anything about the Vietnamese American communities they serve and never will. That's one aspect of how/why they work and live in the shadows to such a large extent and never get found out about. It's also how they get away with all their criminal activity. Also, the Vietnamese are loyal to eachother and don't rat eachtoer out.

  • Vietnamese don't play these types of games anymore. Atleast i hope.

  • Epic Asian Mullet.

  • @Andy2481 And that's a factor to the decline in the overall murder rate in this country.

  • @kaitarquette That's the big question: Why did the police coverup of Vietnamese organized criminal gang? Cowardice comes to mind. In any event, the boyfriend had to have called the Vietnamese gang to inform them as to the couple's break-up that day and to give them information as to her probable whereabouts. What a great actor he was.

  • Ok, so right off the bat they mention she used the money from an "insurance settlement" to pay for an apartment. I'm sorry she got murdered, but she was dirty from the start.

  • I believe this is the location of the murder on Google Maps / Street View:

    35.090171,-106.642098

Here Kait crosses the railway (1:53):

    35.090628,-106.645811

There's an interesting website about this case called 'Who Killed Kait Arquette?'.

  • @kaitarquette Yes if a homeless person goes missing who cares? If he gets murdered well part of the package.Funny how everyone is created equal but some are more equal than others.People get emotional about blonde haired blue eyed girls but nobody cares about the homeless guy who was abused as a child in a low income family with no education and no hope of making a living. He just got what he deserved and fell through the cracks because he didn't have friends or relatives to stand up for him.
