Spider-Man's Brand New Day Horrible

Spider-man's comics used to be awesome. They were always a good read. But they dropped the ball with One More Day. I read the first two volumes of Brand New day, and that was the end of my time collecting Spider-man.

dtrod, great video, I definitely am against Spider-Man: "One More Day" and "Brand New Day"! It's ethically and morally wrong period for Mary Jane Watson-Parker and Peter Parker to make a deal with the demonic Satan/Mephisto. 2nd: I don't like the "separation" of the marriage between those two originally responsible and good, iconic, mega-popular characters. I REALLY REALLY HOPE that this One More Day & Brand New Day crap is soon forgotten in obscurity & erased from existence. Clone Saga: good.

@dtrod Strangely enough, yesterday I actually started thinking about it a bit and I've actually come up with a theory that at some point somebody's gonna have to use for ASM. Think about it. Mephisto wanting their marriage, even practically marking out about it because it's pure, it's rare, once-in-a-millennia, blessed by God and all that jazz, makes zero sense. Unless...THAT is the ONLY way he got to rewrite history so freely *this one time* in a way *specifically targeting their lives*.

@Ikarosus I'm more of a writer, but I might try another sometime soon. I really made this video because of how upset I was over Marvel's treatment of one of its greatest characters...

@dtrod Awesome review. Have you ever made more?
Come to think of it...that Norman Osbourn affair with Gwen Stacy story is far worse than One More Day.

@LifeFirst The Norman/Gwen affair was bad, but it didn't erase and destroy years' worth of continuity. It's also something that can (sort of) be swept under the rug of time if they wanted to. That one is a lot easier to "fix". OMD and BND, and the efforts to justify them, have just made a mess of everything.

Keep the entire situation in the office and in-universe exactly as it is. They still want to effectively write out the marriage so they can get to making completely new storylines with a hip, single Peter. They still don't want to use divorce. They still have Aunt May getting shot, other heroes suddenly becoming useless, and Peter and MJ basically on the run.
There was a video from a guy, Ehfvanteis, that basically spelled it out perfectly. Five words. MARY. JANE. WATSON. WITNESS. PROTECTION.

@Witness2TheWade They used the "young, hip" story excuse and...the stories still were lame in the year following OMD. That why a guy who collected since he was a kid (me) finally ditched ASM. There was an issue here-and-there that was good (Zeb Wells, I believe), but by and large they were still lame. Marriage was never the problem; bad writing was the problem.

Hey dtrod, some new comments on Spider-Man these days ?

@SilverSurferDE Hello! The sad thing is, I've been out of the ASM loop for some time. I read a few my brother requested with the return of The LIzard, tried to get back into it...and then couldn't. Is it me or are they always changing writers and artists? I can't stand that on any title, and with the Pete and MJ continuity still messed up my patience for ASM is razor thin. Right now the only Marvel book I read is New Avengers.
