  • Well in football you actually hit hard and get hit hard. Unless you would like to be paralyzed you need a helmet.

  • its not so much as pads are supposed to take pain off the hit. they are there to let you hit without restraint because if you drop your should it dosent hurt cause of the pads but when the pads connect with there stomach theres no padding.

  • very true, if rugby players started to wear pads we would start to see harder hits like in american football. the pads allow harder hits to be accomplished as well as providing protection.
