A FINE EXAMPLE OF HOW LITTLE EVEN A MAJOR CRACK REPAIR WILL EFFECT A CYMBALS SOUND.

Light 1948 grams in weight (she lost 4 grams in the repair), this vintage Zildjian looks to be from the late 60's (stamp+hammering ID). The crack was non effective to the sound of the cymbal but needed to be dealt with before it continued any further.

As usual drilling the ends of the crack caused the crack to buzz and choked the cymbals sustain. [note: If you're going to drill a crack, be sure to use some dye penetrant to make sure you are in fact drilling the "ends" of the crack.] After cutting out the crack the cymbal regained nearly all of its original sound.

In my estimation the crack created a little bit of dissidence in the overall sound of the cymbal, which could be considered a plus. Also, the bell looses much of the bottom end on the side of the repair as the sound waves can't carry out the edge of the cymbal where they get longer.
