Nobody was crying when they demolished the area on the East side of campus to create campustown, the Global Communications building (eventually) and the rerouting of University Street 20 years ago. I was a student back then and those houses were dilapidated. Old, but junk.
The campus has been here since 1895. If you live near any university you have to expect expansion. Those houses on Maplewood may have been old but many were student rentals; they are far from historic.

I lived near Bradley in 1968-69 and the houses around there were old then.

Yes, I would imagine the houses were about 60 years old back then. That would make them around 100 years old now. And your point is?

My point is that they are a lot of old houses, and Bradley University is making progress. I worked at St. Francis Hospital back then. It is good to see that the University has grown.

By old, I assume you mean run down, of which some were of course because of rentals, but many were gorgeous houses with families. Now you've got families living in beautiful homes on Cooper that will be moving out because they don't want their back yard to face a parking deck. Those will turn into rentals, the houses will go downhill and the cycle continues until the entire Arbor District is wiped off the map.
