2. Scientific Name of species:(Damon diadema)
3. Range: Tanzania and Kenya
4. Type: Arboreal
5. Communal: Only in a large enough tank
6. Full Grown Size: 8" (Depending on species)
7. Growth Rate: Medium
8. Temperature: 27-30C during the day 20-24C) Night. Some other species require cooler conditions buy should be suitable for most Amblypygids
9. Humidity: 80% (increase for hatched juveniles)
10. Temperment: Skittish
11. Venom: None
12. Speed: Fast
13. Diet: Young can eat Pinhead crickets, small roaches, meal worms. Adults can eat large crickets, roaches, super worms and an occasional lizard.
14. Housing: 10-20 gallon tank, or rubbermaid type container. Young can live in small critter keepers or large deli cups
15. Substrate Depth/Type: 3" peat or peat/soil mix
16. Additional Comments on This Species: Large pieces of bark should be added to the tank for clim

  • @01010101346 I think it has something to do with their pedipalps. If its a male then the length of the peds will surpass the 'knees' on the front legs, and they wont if its a female. I think.

    Going on this theory, mine is female and this one is male

  • how do you sex one of these anyway? ive looked everywhere but it seems there´s no clear way to find out other than when one of them is pregnant

  • @dvddjscottymack D.diadema is native to africa. there are other whip scorpion species around other parts of the world :D

  • where did you get it, im about to buy some but their the ones from florida and their not as big

  • @dvddjscottymack yah they're harmless. but ive heard folk stories of them foaming at the mouth, hissing, and jumping at people if threatened. i think only the hissing is true

  • @Kickasss119 aaah...these things were the scariest looking thing i have ever seen...the local population was very confused as to whether they were bad or good
