I start to think about how the Jewish leaders here in the US are attacking Pope Benedict even when he apologized to the Jews. This seems never ending as each succeeding Pope have to apologize to them and it disgust me how they are never satisfied. This video put things in perspective.

@JosherForder i think you overestimate the power of the pope. Hitler would have removed him from power if he became a nuisance. The vatican was right in the heart of an allies territory it would have been very easy to do.

I would recommend Rabbi Dalin;s book referenced at the end of the video. He deals with that topic. In summation what P12 realized early on was that when a Church official spoke out openly it flared the Nazi wrath to more atrocities. Yet still, judging from the evidence (which is heavily footnoted I may add) presented in the book there was no ambiguity about the Holy Father's and the Church's position. Heck, even Time magazine knew here across the Atlantic. Pax Christi.

That's a broad sweeping indictment. If you want to be taken seriously perhaps you should narrow your topic so at least one could discuss what you mean. Maybe the information presented in this video would be a good starting point?

Still, it is very likely the great atrocities of holocaust would not have occurred if the Church openly showed disapproval to these racist policies. Ironic, since it does not take the most knowledgeable bible scholar, to figure out that God and the Jewish teacher and preacher of love and compassionate Jesus Christ would openly disapprove.

The media has put a bad spin on him. But he knew he was fighting a demon in Hitler I am sure all his moves were calculated. I know many priests in Germany went to concentration camps for speaking out.
