Rockpile was pretty much a "super group" from Britain.

    Nick Lowe

    Dave Edmunds

    Terry Williams

    Billy Bremner

They wrote and played some killer stuff.

I saw them with Elvis Costello at the El Macombo in Canada. Never have stuff like this again.

Kind of looks like Gram Parsons doing Phil Lynot doing Reeling in the Years!

When I first heard this song on the radio in the late '70s, I thought it *was* Thin Lizzy. It still sounds like Phil Lynott could've written it, and Nick's phrasing is pure Phil on this. Great song, too. :)

Where is this version found? It's markedly different from the one on PPFNP, unless my memory is failing me. There's some harmonies on the chorus that I don't remember from the old version!

I still stand by my opinion that Nick Lowe and Steely Dan are fucking equals.

Carlin's comment about combinations does not apply to music - unless if the music is extremely uncreative and unlistenable.

it should also be pointed out that much of the Nick Lowe stuff you're seeing that's from the late 70s is also the band 'Rockpile', as is most of the late 70s Dave Edmunds. although they were really a single band they recorded under their individual names because Edmunds was already signed to Led Zeppelins label 'Swansong' and Lowe to 'Stiff' records. if you like this you should check them out as well because they're really all the same band.

I know this is an old comment, It's been a few months myself even, but this was my first time hearing Nick Lowe, I just stumbled upon this after doing a Google search related to Thin Lizzy and was instantly hooked. I even saw him live shortly after.
