The San Antonio, Texas Veterans Hospital has just received this new piece of equipment called the "Lokomat" today (1-30-2009). This was their second day of training on it from the manufactures rep. I was able to participate with their training and help being a patient that would use this machine for many physical therapy reasons.
I am a quadriplegic injury level C6/7. My thoughts on this after using it: It was absolutely incredible! It really did simulate walking with a true step and gait pattern. I've used other walking simulators such as the "Auto ambulator " and "light gait system". The Lokomat was able to be so finely adjusted and set up for my exact body height / leg length / step and stride that it made a perfect uncomfortable walk that felt great. Overall, I would highly recommend anyone with an SCI injury to use this equipment if afforded the opportunity.
