East St Louis Players Late Nights On The Eastside EP
Catalogue Number: LMD022
Release Date: September 2008
For release number 22, Lost My Dog turn to a brand new American production partnership for the debut EP from the East St Louis Players. The duo of Don Tinsley and Bernard Jones come from their Midwestern namesake St Louis and first teamed up in 2006. The pair have each had success as solo artists and together they have brought their respective skills to the studio to create a blend of deep house with live musical elements.
The Players provide two original tracks Always On My Mind and Hustlin. The former comes in two mixes, a stripped back version and the Jon Milsom Horn Mix, where their close friend Milsom adds a live trumpet. The latter is remixed by deep house stalwarts Inland Knights. The duo of Laurence Richie and Andy Riley are well known for over a decade of music and helped define the UK Midlands house sound thanks to releases on their own Drop Music label and other leading imprints such as NRK, 2020 Vision, Amenti, SoSound and Doubledown.
Magazine Reviews
DJ Magazine - 4/5
Bumpy beats are slashed by proper jazz funk horn action and dotted keyboard flecks on the 'Jon Milson Horn Mix' of 'Always On My Mind'. Derby duo Inland Knights do it the way they do it on the clattering 'Hustlin', whilst the 'Original' version retains the claterring beats but also picks up hefty organ action along the way.
iDJ - 3/5
A new signing for Lost My Dog and there's more than a touch of good old-fashioned jazz thrown in the pot. There's a good old-fashioned swing too. Both are good, if unassuming ans slightly, er, old fashioned. Inland Knights bring us up to date with a stripped back techy beat.

Great Deep house EP from LMD with plenty of funk. I like the stripped Back Version of 'Always On My Mind' best, it keeps things simple and it works a treat. The Jon Milsom Horn Mix is a good alternative for a fuller arrangement. Inland Knights are also on good form with the infectious funk of their Hustlin' remix. Wil definitely be charting and supporting!

Nice vibes from the guys, IK do a mix which sounds like one of the old ones from back in the late 90's, good solid house. Fave track is Hustlin (original), just really cool vibey house for getting the floor moving.

No it isn't. The area code is 618; it is part of Illinois. If you ride the metrolink East St Louis is prior to going over the river into Missouri.
Nice try though.

Loughborough

The video is filmed in Loughborough, the Midlands town most famous for its sporting University. It was in Loughborough that Lost My Dog Records was born in 2005 and so it seemed fitting for the first music video to be filmed there. A cast of upcoming actors was attracted including Zoe Cartwright, the deaf winner of Channel 4s The Shooting Party, Raphael Dascenzo, who has recently featured in a Levis campaign, Charlotte Poulton from the film Goal 3 and lead actress Charlotte Atkinson.
