  • The Philippine BFAR Director now is an award winning environmental lawyer, Atty Asis Perez. He could be the urgent solution to the abuses on the marine environment of Siit, Siaton. The local government is currently not ready to protect the main source of livelihood for the local community, and we hope this lawyer can see the urgency of taking corrective measures of the exploitation.

  • Defending our seas from pirates should be everybody's concern. Without the the corals, our oceans will become lifeless. Pirate fishing - known by its less colorful name: illegal, unregulated - is the scourge of the oceans. It leaves communities without much needed food and income, and the marine environment smashed and empty. Our government can outlaw pirates. It can deliver the kind of enforcement that is needed to protect the marine environment and the communities that depend on it. You and me

  • Our new BFAR Director is an environmental lawyer. Perhaps he will not delay helping the last remaining reef of Siaton. All our documented reports, including meetings in the Siit Barangay have been left unattended. Gov. Degamo, please check on how you can urgently support our fishery. If Negros Oriental leads with Marine Protected Areas, we hope you as our leader can make our province lead in enforcing environmental laws as well.
