  • Announces the upcoming Arpanet - 20kb/sec latency of less than 1/10 second. This is what became the internet.

    I really hope Doug is proud of what all his guys produced. I'd say it's probably more significant than even PARCs contribution. (And PARC was FANTASTIC.) The concepts here were incredible and deeply thought out.

  • These are the giants on the backs of whom we are riding! I wonder if Prof. Marshall McLuhen was aware of this? The keywords and concepts that are dropped during this presentation are dead on! The "Connections" to this groups efforts will surely prove to have truly changed and revolutionized the world. ..."walls, desks, surfaces"... I just can't get over how these people saw and shaped their (and our) future.

  • very surprised that already in 68 so many important concepts were formed - i'd have to read more but just before the computers came into play, some of those elements were developped for management , accounting, system engineering. Doug Engelbart looked like a mix of and Francois Truffaut and Robert Stack
