Original text:
The waiting game by Anna Pope, 2008
The smear across my window
Is the rain which comes too late,
The crops which shouldn't be there,
Dry and withered as the face --
Existing through the summers,
Squinting through the haze,
As tired as disappointment
And hope, the waiting game.
Horizons, the smear,
and all who shouldn't be here,
Horizons the dust, the cracks and the faces,
The waiting, the waiting, the waiting.
