This is a song written by my brother - Dwight Newman. It's been called "I Can't Lose Her Now" in the past but he's re-written some of the lyrics and the title is new. The video is from a recording I made a few years ago with the old lyrics and my Harmony Sovereign Guitar. The audio is with the new lyrics and I think it was my Gibson J-45 guitar, though it might have been with my Gibson J-30 too. So it's not in perfect sync but not too bad either.

She woke up fumblin', lookin' for another cover, she says her feet are cold

I know I should get up, the pilot light's out again

But I lay here listenin' to this December wind

And all she knows is, she sure could use me now




When I was younger I used to dream, I used to wonder, tryin' to picture this

I never imagined this kind of aching cold

I don't know how it happened but we're finally gettin' old

And all we know is, the love's enough for now.




I hear her whisperin' in her sleep---none of it making any sense

Or is it my imagination?

Maybe I almost fell asleep, maybe she never said a word

I thought I had an explanation




The early morning city sounds, through our window, bring me back again

The frost in the air was never quite like this

And closing my eyes as it carries me off in bliss
