Quick playalong to test the p-bass mic'd up to the PJB suitcase with flat EQ and no limiting/compression on the recording (at least before youtube mashes it up in processing). These are Rotosound Jazz flats on this bass - I like the high tension but they have a different tone to LaBellas.
And Jamerson's original? Well, I might try to do a closer copy than this one day - the original must have amazed and inspired bass players all over the world when they 1st heard it in '67/'68. This is one of many examples why Jamerson laid the foundations for Jaco, Bootsy and countless others - in fact, he put the walls up and half the roof, too.

After 1st listen - Google Chrome doesn't seem to want to play stereo and the compression/mashing of tone is still happening, but it doesn't seem as bad.... still hope they fix it so we get to hear what we upload...

Really dig your technique...amazing how funky a tone you can get out of flatwounds and a P bass.
You've inspired me to get a P bass. Do you have any recomendations on flatwounds? Do you always use Rotosounds 77's? Which do you prefer out of 77's and Labellas?
