I think most people remember the last assault weapons ban during the Clinton era and realize that did absolutely nothing to stop crime. Just made life harder for law biding citizens with stupid ass laws and restrictions. It didn't stop high profile massacres like Columbine and the Beltway Snipers that occurred during the ban.
