You're right, mate. In real life. But this is the small-screen action shows/movies here. Though, there was one or two epis when they fired their missles, there was no explosion sound, only the music playing. But again, they need to, or else space battles would be boring!

I remember this series as a child....what a blast.

What we need today is a remake with an upgrade of technology for our modern times...This truly kept me pinned to the television back as a kid..

When I was a kid, this was the Ultimate T.V. show!!!!! Loved every episode!!!!!!

That's IT..they're wide open...and STILL couldn't hit Moonbase...R these Aliens Blind..THEY hit that tractor thing...that was shooting at them... But..i understand why Gerry Anderson didn't blow up MoonBase...IT WOULD OF COST MONEY!!! So blow up the moon rocks next to Moon Base...>RED ALERT

I remember watching this series as a kid. That UFO noise scared me. 1980 seemed so far in the future for me and those hairstyles so weird. I didnt know that the girl's hair was purple as I saw this in B&W.  Some of the comments here explain why today this series would have been ilogical in many ways.
