The pistons and pistonrings of this outboard were completely stuck by coal.
I took the engine apart with a special tool I made for that job, cleaned the whole thing up and welded a frozen cilinder.
Then installed new rings and good upper and lower bearrings (which unlikely enough were left on my doorstep by someone last Christmas ... Thank you! whoever you are)
Runs like new.
I did a Johnson A45 (1929) earlier this year and also ran it behind my boat but this one runs much better.

  • very interesting, I love that exhaust setup!

  • Thanks you,

It is indeed a very good runner. As it has a plunjerpump it runs and cools backwards too.

In a couple of months I expect boeing747300 (also AOMCI member) to place it's big brother the A2 on Youtube.
