@hto1971: it's hard to say what will work for you and what won't..really depends on your hardware. You can google linux forums that are relevant to your planned distro. If your digitech has a line out, I would definitely use that

hey, i used audacity somewhat over last summer and just recently downloaded it again because im now using a better guitar and a new amp. i got the peavy vypyr. and i plug into the usb port to record some guitar tracks and for some reason, the tone when i play over audacity is horible. nothing close to the tone i get normaly. and i had it on all the exact same settings i normaly do when i just jam. do you have any idea why this might be?

Generally speaking, you don't want to go direct line out from an amp to PC. The sound quality is almost always terrible. The ideal way is to Mic your amp speaker. I've had the same problem with amps, however I'm using the Line 6 POD which does an amazing job for direct line recording (still not the best way to do it, but its much higher quality).

RapidCity: In hydrogen, (I'm using version 0.9.4), go to the Project menu and select export song. Then create a file name for it and it will convert the pattern to a .wav file. When that is done compiling, open Audacity and under the File menu, select Import-->Audio. Then browse to where you saved the .wav that Hydrogen created and it will put your drum track into Audacity.
