Rain Song by Miriam Stockley
From her Album Second Nature - 2003

I guess this is the lyrics --

Siduda, siduda, imvula, imvula
Siduda, (emvuleni) siduda, (emvuleni) (We dance around in the rain)
Imvula, (ilungile Imvula, (ilugile) (The rain is so good)

Uyaiyithanda (Do you like it?)
Tumbling, crumbling, mumbling, pittering, pattering rain
Tit for tat, this 'n' that, copy cat, dancin' around in the rain.
Tumbling, crumbling, mumbling, pittering, pattering rain
Tit for tat, this 'n' that, copy cat
Musa ukoyika (Don't be afraid)

Gugula, ungaya, iindudumo, kukugalel, kugalel
Ilungile (It is pouring thundering)

  • I read about it not being real words, never the less you can definitely hear "sounds" that sound like the words mentioned above and also "pitter patter" and "dancing around in the rain". Maybe they are not words but if they sound like words then they carry meaning to the hearer.

  • @lunarnut that would be correct : )

  • It's not a language. It is only vocal sounds. She teamed up with Karl Jenkins in the production of "Adiemus" in the 90's, and with Jenkins at the helm, produced the Adiemus collection. In the collection, several songs with vocals are not a language, but are made up vocal sounds to accompany the music. Look up Karl Jenkins and you will see and understand the music that he and Mrs Stockley put together. She also carried that style in some of her solo work, this being one of them.

  • @Delage82 It's Zulu, one of the 11 official languages of South Africa :)

  • reminds me of enya

  • @lunarnut I thought i was the only one who thought those were the words

  • Does anybody know which language is she singing in? I hear some words in English, but the rest... is it gibberish as in the Adiemus tracks, or some dialect?
