If you want to clean the water, do the following, buy a big 3 drawer plastic box from walmart, cut a hole in the top so water can be enter in and also cut the bottom of each one of the drawers and replace the bottom of the drawers with stainless steel wire mesh or plastic mesh, the top one should be 1000 micron, the second drawer should be 500 micron and the final and third drawer should be 100 micron. Every day pull out the drawers and hose them off gently in opposite direction, from the bottom
I thought one of the things the tilapia like to eat IS algae?! Maybe that is why they are not as hungry.....Obviously if he is getting thousands of fry....something is going good!!! ")

@leinani10 when I made this video I was overfeeding them, and I had poor water quality. I still have alot to learn. and I need to get better filtration.

how big was the drainage canal u cuaght them in

@biggbass24 to net wild tilapia in florida. wait till early spring, like late jan or feb. canals are drying up because lack of rain, find a canal that has lots of birds hanging around. I caught 50 tilapia in less then an hour in a canal that was maybe 8 feet wide 2-4 feet deep. they got trapped in when the water receded in the spring.

How many tilapia in that pool? Do you check your PH, nitrite, nitrate, and ammonia levels on a regular basis? Just curious, because the fish didn't really seem interested in the food and the water was very dirty. My tilapia stopped eating and I realized the nitrate levels were too high. I stopped feeding them for a day and all was well. Have a good day.

I don't check anything, the water is dirty and I need to do water changes more often. I could change 75% of the water and it looks like that in 2 days. Its still better quality water then the drainage canal I caught most of them out of.
