When Washington's own Bruce Brown set out in 1992 to film a movie on the streets of southeast D.C. he got the typical responses. There were those who were curious but doubtful. Still, just in case he did live up to his claim, they wanted to remain close enough to say that they were a part of it. Of course, these people always disappear when the going gets tough. True to form, they abandoned ship faster than rats on the Titanic.
Then there are those who support you through thick and thin. They're not in it just for the potential money and fame. They're in it because they understand the larger vision, and wish to see it through to its successful completion. Whatever rewards come, they accept with humility. If nothing comes, they are happy for the experience and are more than ready to try again. Needless to say, such people are hard to come by, especially in D.C..
