Tarkington VFD was dispatched to a report of a hay field on fire on CR2317. First arriving units could see smoke from several miles away and requested mutual aid from HWY321, Kenefick, Dayton, and Cleveland fire departments.

Upon arrival, they found app. 5 acres on fire, along with a tractor, hay baler, and several hay bales. Firefighters fought not just the fire, but triple-digit temperatures as they worked to keep the field fire from turning into a forest fire.
