**LYRICS ENGLISH TRANSLATION**

As I was walking down a towering alley
In the outskirts of the city
I saw beyond the blotched fog
A streetcar still sluggish from sleep
Crossing over the sea

(Chorus)
That's why I want to gather the wind (under my wings)
Gather the wind (under my wings)
And run across the blue sky.

As I passed through a beautiful sunrise
I saw beyond the empty-looking breakwater
A city with its day-colored sails up
Moored in the port
(Repeat)

When I was killing time one morning
At an empty coffee shop
I saw through the cracked glass
The rustling of the high-rises' silken clothes
Brushing on the sidewalk

  • For good times....make it Suntory time.

  • I think its nice to listen to an intelligent, breezy pop rock song like this without the burden of English words. It still has the human voice that so many music listeners require in their music, but it's in another language: its nice to be able to ignore the meaning and just enjoy the "sound" of the singing/melody.

Actually, Yellow Magic Orchestra was founded by Haruomi Hosono, not Ryuichi Sakamoto. It was Hosono who invited Sakamoto to join YMO, not the other way around.

Ryuichi Sakamoto is sometimes wrongly credited as YMO's founder, mainly because he later gained a lot more worldwide fame (for his Hollywood film composing work, winning the Grammy, Oscar, Golden Globes, BAFTA, etc.) than Hosono.
